Celebrating Baby Penn

Saturday was filled with lots of fun and friends as I was given my last shower for Penn by Lynn and Danielle, two wonderful girls in my Sunday School class. Danielle made the most adorable diaper wreath and bootie flowers for me and the food was delicious. It was so much fun spending time with girls from Sunday School, Boot Camp and friends in my neighborhood. I love a good reason to celebrate. Penn received some really cute outfits, diapers, wipes, bibs, toys and all sorts of fun stuff. I really feel like we are close to ready now. I have a few last minute things to get and his dresser and monitor will be here this week, so it is all coming together. I guess it's a good thing since I only have 5 weeks left. It's going by so quickly.
I have to apologize for the lack of pictures. I am obviously not the photographer in the family, as I brought my camera and forgot to take it out of the bag. I have been so bad with getting pics at my showers. The pregnancy has definitely robbed me of some of my brain power.

34 weeks and 2 days

Great checkup today. I got to see Penn again at our ultrasound today and he was so smooshed this time. His little cheeks were really starting to fill out, but you could definitely tell he didn't have as much room. My blood pressure was great, I have gained 26 lbs and Penn is growing and healthy, what more could I ask for? He is measuring approx. 4 lbs 6 oz today so they are predicting he will be right around 7 lbs. I think that sounds just perfect.
Mom came with me to my dr's appt this morning and then we were able to spend some girl time shopping for last minute things for Penn. She has been so much help with me trying to get everything ready for him. Tomorrow we have a fun day planned with a shower at 2pm for me and Penn given by 2 wonderful girls in my Sunday School class. I am so looking forward to it and I'll have more tomorrow.

Showered with love

On Saturday I was given a wonderful shower by my family. I am truly blessed to have an amazing family with such wonderful, strong, Christian women. We had a delicious lunch with poppyseed chicken, wild rice, salad and cranberry dressing followed by petit fours for dessert. Penn was given so many nice things that we will definitely need. Here are some pics from the shower.

how cute, Pickles and Ice Cream!

33 week update

wow, only 7 weeks left. I think I am starting to feel the whole range of emotions between excitement one minute and stress the next. Ready or not, he will be here before I know it. Most nights I am wide awake between 2am and 4am pondering bills, diapers, groceries, sleep schedules and all of the other things that tend to take over my mind. Just as I start to panic I remember that I serve a faithful God who has always provided and will continue to provide for the rest of my days. I also think about my amazing husband who works so hard and always gives me the best. I know this journey we are about to enter will be one of excitement, joy and stress but all with a great reward.
Back to details on 33 weeks...I am growing by the day, feeling most uncomfortable at night. My appetite has remained about the same, except for the occasional indulgences in sweets. I am still doing boot camp to the best of my ability, although somedays I'm doing good to just be there. My nighttime potty trips are at about 4 throughout the night. All in all, I can't complain!!
My next dr's appt. is Feb 26th at 34 weeks and 2 days. I will have my last ultrasound and find out just how big this boy is going to be.

snow day

We finally got a snow day in Georgia!! Last friday it started snowing about 3pm and continued well into the night, so we had about 3 in. when we woke up on Saturday morning. It was so pretty! I thoroughly enjoy the snow, but I have to say it is also nice to see it go. Around here people just don't know how to function with slick roads. Here are some pics from the snow at our house. David and I went out for a long walk through the neighborhood Saturday admiring everyone's snowmen. I know David will be excited to have little man around next time to build a snowman and have a snowball fight with him.

Penn's room in progress...

I have been really working hard on getting Penn's room ready for him when he gets here. I can't believe I only have 8 weeks left! The room is still in progress, but here's some pics. I just LOVE his bedding, compliments of Peeky Boo Baby Bedding and Brittany Graham. She is amazing. I picked out the fabric and she made this adorable crib set for him. I just love the bright colors and his name on it. Now, I can work on the rest of the room and all of the accessories. So much fun. We are painting a dresser the green color on the wall and we'll be adding a rocking chair to the room too.

Amazing...

I can't begin to explain the feeling of seeing my little man's face for the first time. I had been anxiously awaiting our 3d ultrasound and needless to say it did not disappoint. We had Gigi, Papa and Reese along for the 30 minute session at Baby's First Images. It was amazing and such a miracle to see Penn. Reese asked all day "when are we going to see Baby Penn on the big tv"; she even sang her ABC's to him multiple times throughout the session.
We weren't sure in the beginning if Penn was going to cooperate. He wasn't moving to show us his face so I turned on my side and there he was. He was in perfect position and oh so content. He gave us multiple smiles, tried to suck his thumb and even stuck his tongue out at us. He was just so cute. He definitely has long arms and legs and kept his feet up at his mouth for most of the time. I think I am more anxious and excited now to hold this precious gift in my arms.

Smiling and looking for his thumb.

Afterwards we met up with Aunt Jenn and Uncle Dallas at Longhorn's to celebrate!

Shower for Penn

Last Saturday was my first baby shower for Penn at my sister's house, given by Megan, Amanda, Frenchy, Jordan, Jenn Dixon and my sister (and my mom). It was so amazing!! I had the best time getting to see old friends and catching up with everyone. I am amazed at the love shown by so many people during this special time in our lives. Penn received an abundance of gifts that were all needed and I can't wait for him to see them. David and I are truly blessed with the most wonderful and thoughtful friends and family!! We love you all so much and can't wait for Penn to meet you all.

Diaper cake compliments of Gigi

Sunday was such a busy day too. Jenn, my sister and amazing photographer, took my maternity pics. Yes, ok, she made me freeze in 40 degrees wearing nothing but a cami and jeans, but I know it will be worth it. I am so excited have just captured this moment in pictures. I have to also say thanks to David for being such a good participant.
After pics we celebrated Gigi's (my mom) birthday with Pizza from Papa Johns and the best cake ever!! I have to tell you the story. Jenn and I sent David and Dallas out for the cake since we were with mom all day. Their instructions were Sam's cake, white cake, white buttercream icing, that's mom's favorite. They came back with the perfect cake, not only was it all of the above but it was huge, had Dora all over it and said Happy Birthday Gigi! I think they both win the award for best son in law. Not only did Gigi love it, but Reese was thrilled that Gigi had a Dora cake. So much fun.

31 weeks

I had a great checkup Monday for 31 weeks and Penn seems to be growing nice and healthy. My blood pressure, weight and hemoglobin are right where they are supposed to be so I am just going to keep on trucking. I can't say enough how blessed I feel to be having such a wonderful, healthy pregnancy. I am still able to workout and sleep is pretty good for the most part, which I am really thankful for.
