2 week stats
Penn had his 2 week checkup yesterday and he is a growing boy. His weight is up to 7lb 6 oz and he is 20.5 in long. He is in the 20% for weight and 40% for height and his head is 14 in. which is also the 20%. He is growing so big and strong. I was so glad to hear that he was gaining enough weight since we have struggled with nursing, but he seems to be content and fine on what he is getting. He got a great checkup and has been the best baby. We are just loving every minute. He makes the funniest faces and noises and is really just doing great.

2 weeks old today!!
I can't believe how fast 2 weeks is flying by. I was so anxious for little Penn to arrive and I just can't soak up enough time with him now. I won't lie, but the first 2 weeks are definitely hard. Everyone says if you can survive them you will be fine. So, we have survived...sometimes just barely. Nursing has been a real challenge, but we are starting to get the hang of everything else. (thankfully with the help of a wonderful husband, Gigi and Mimi)
Here are some pics of our adventures in the first 2 weeks:

Life as a mom...
so as you can tell by my lack of post, I have been fully involved with life as a mom.
Our sweet baby boy arrived on Wednesday, April 14th 2010 at 9:05 pm weighing 6lb 9.9oz and 20 in long. We are so abundantly blessed by this gift that it is simply overwhelming to explain.
Holding my little man for the first time was amazing. What a miracle God has made!?! David and I are in awe of his every move. We had a great stay at the hospital with lots of visitors and are making the transition at home.

My experience with pregnancy, labor and delivery was absolutely wonderful. Although I didn't go into labor on my own, I had a great experience with being induced and glad I made the decision to do it. Wednesday morning was so exciting going to the hospital knowing we would be seeing our handsome little guy sometime that day. While the day was long, waiting and wondering, it was worth the wait. I experienced, labor, contractions and birth just as I had wanted too. Penn had a bm while in the womb and the cord was wrapped tightly around his neck at delivery so I was able to immediately hold him, but of course having him checked out was most important.
Penn went for his first dr's appt yesterday and got a good checkup except that he's not being completely nourished by my nursing so we are having to supplement. Pray that God will nourish his little body and keep him healthy and strong. He left the hospital weighing 6lb 5 oz and on Monday morning weighed 6 lb 1 oz.
I have some amazing pics from the birth and hospital that I can't wait to share with you. I have the most amazing sister who spent the whole week last week with me at the hospital capturing every moment of this little guy.

Baby Penn Update
It's 4:00 and still no Penn. I finally got my epidural at 3:15 after deciding it was getting unbearable. The contractions have been really strong all day, but just haven't made much progress. I'm really glad I was able to experience contractions and labor, but I'm also enjoying relaxing now. We are waiting on the dr. to come and check me to see how far I've come. Thank you for all the prayers. More updates to come!
41 weeks and labor updates
So... this morning could not arrive soon enough. I had an awful time trying to contain excitement last night. My alarm went off at 4am this morning and I was raring to go and ready to get to the hospital. Just to add to the excitement for the day, as we are driving to the hospital on I-20 David gets pulled over. The officer comes to the window and says "sir did you realize you were speeding in a 55 mile an hr zone?" David hands him his drivers license and says "I'm taking my wife to the hospital to have a baby and I'm a little anxious". The officer quickly hands back his license and says "Good Luck". End of story. I was rolling!!!
We arrived promptly at 5:30 for our induction and pitocin was started at 6am. At. 8:10 Dr. B came in and checked me and broke my water. I am still only 1cm and 25% effaced, but he is in position. Also, there was meconium in the water so he will have to be double checked at delivery. Please keep praying...I know it's going to be a long day. He isn't showing any signs of being in a hurry to get out and meet this world.
We are going to take the next few hours to rest and relax, but we'll keep you posted.

40 week update
yep, I made it to 40 weeks. I had to write the date today and it was such a weird feeling because for the last 9-10 months I have been saying my peanut would be here today. So many mixed emotions. I am so excited to see his little face, yet so thankful that I have had a wonderful and healthy pregnancy. I feel blessed to have successfully carried this baby to 40 weeks and I know when he is ready he will be here. We are just ask for continued prayers for a healthy baby.
My dr's appt today went great once again. My blood pressure is great, weight has remained stable and his heartbeat is nice and strong still. We are just waiting on him to come see this wild world. I am dilated to 1cm, so I have at least made a little progress. We made the decision today that if he does not arrive over the next week we will induce labor. We have a scheduled induction for Wed. April 14th at 5:30 am. I am really praying that he comes on his own, so I am trying everything to get him here naturally.
Here's a sampling of trying all the old wives tales: Yesterday David and I went to The Masters which consisted of walking the entire course for about 4 1/2 hours, then I ate eggplant parmesan for dinner. Today started off by walking 2 miles, boot camp, dr's appt, eggplant parmesan again for lunch, shopping with my mom, then walking with David through the neighborhood tonight. Whew!! If staying active is supposed to help, he should definitely be here.
Stay posted for the latest! I have to say the fact that my blog says 0 days left for Penn's arrival is really weird. I have been watching the countdown everyday for the last 10 months.

Hopeful..
So, I'll just share the first of my experience with false labor. Last friday night I started experiencing a lot of cramping that lasted all night and into Saturday morning. I went to teach Boot Camp Saturday morning, then came home and worked in the yard with David doing some spring cleaning. I was starting to have some contractions so all day we were watching and waiting for them to get more intense. Needless to say, instead of getting more intense they stopped! So disappointing.
Both my family and David's came over Sunday to celebrate Easter with us and we were really hoping we may be having a baby too. Since then nothing has happened. I am doing boot camp, walking, yard work everything to keep moving and to get him ready. Can't wait to go back to the dr. wed. to see if that false labor actually did anything.
Tomorrow we are going to The Masters to walk 18 holes and hopefully make some progress. I'm so excited.
We had such a wonderful, blessed Easter with family and we can't wait to chase around our little man next year at the Easter egg hunt. Thank you Jesus for the blessings of family, friends and most importantly your Resurrection. Here is Penn's first Easter basket. Thank you Gigi!
